Hey, Got a new 120gb 7200rpm western digital hd and wanted to copy all my data that i had on old hard drive to new one so a mate of mine told me to use a imaging program so i tried the one he gave me (powerquest 5.0) and he claimed he had used in loadsa times before and it was easy. I did it then it would not boot up my login page jus a page sayin windows xp. so i went on otha computer and turns out that loadsa ppl have had probs wid the program wen tryin it with western digital drives..luckily i still had all my stuff on old drive. Ne1 wanna recommend me ne drive imaging software that maybe they have tried before? and where to get as lookin on suprnova and cudnt find ne...

Not really helpful but I'd just back up and data I wanted to keep and start a fresh on the new hdd... but other then that I cant think of any apps off the top of my head, but I might find some later if I have a look

why bother with the backup? install xp on the new hdd, then just stick the old hdd on another channel and copy the 'data' over onto the new drive direct.

I think spike is trying to avoid reinstalling applications tho, only way to do that is with an hdd image with Ghost or something.
