Im not sure if this goes under this Forum Topic but ill put it anyway...

Ok since ive moved to my new house they said i will get ADSL on September 2003 then delayed to December 2003 then delayed to March 2004 and today i got a sort of book in the mail that everyone got where i live saying that the place i live at needs 100 people to sign up and that we will probably get ADSL here in april/mai

i cba to wait that long with the slow 33.6K !!! does anyone have something that could boost a connectiong but a little ??

There are some programs out that...that let you tweak MTU settnigs for example, but XP is pretty well optimized in that department anyway, so its unlikely it will help you. The other problem is that alot of the 'optimizers' use techniques like DNS Caching to speed up web browsing, which is handy, but fuck all to do with speeding up cs. CS is pretty much dependant on 2 things. Bandwidth (in your case 33.6k) and other processes sharing that bandwidth.
So I reckon the only thing you can do is open up the 'services' control panel and see what you can disable to save some bandwidth...think of things like the windows messenger service, nothing to do with msn messenger and its unlikely that you need it running. Also, make sure things like RealPlayer and Winamp are disabled, coz they sit there silently checking and downloading updates and stuff in the background....basically, you aint got a magic cure, you will just have to give CS as much resource as you can.

ive got tweak MTU works wonders...my reaction times are shit loads better. run it with opengl enabled is best. finally i can kill quickly - only problem is my jittery wireless mouse...... ah i remember the razor boomslang days...... o seven btw just buy a fuckin 56k modem you peon! 33k -> 56k - u will notice the difference in the way you play - no more lucky lag kills

MTU tweaking will have a limited efect on servers that are near you (ie same country) but changing it can increase ur download rates by a bit if say downloading from usa....

use Dr TCP to have a fiddle ... proper BO tweaked my 2mb nicely

my rwin is currently at 43140 (for this pc any way) and my MTU is 1500 (so bt/isp can cap it at whatever they want, think bt sets 1458 on some exchanges and nildram set it to 1478 for meh)

rite something that might help...you know in this country a lot of dial up services run through BT phonelines? (dont know what it is in france, fuck knows...) well if you call BT (151) and ask them to increase the gain on your line that can boost your connection speed quite a bit...so phone whoever it is in france and ask - its free too
