Not sure what heading to put this under so move it if its in the wrong one..
Just wondering can you upload a video tape recording onto your pc.
Say like a wire from video recorder to line in or suttink then some sorta software to record it?

U need a graphics card with a VI (video in) connection. Or you can buy a separate card from Pinnacle (for example). Any card you get that has VI will most likely come with all the software you need.

I think there are USB solutions too.

Ok my graphics card hasnt got a video in...i take it then a cable goes from that to the video player.
il search on google for a USB way....got ne ideas of wot it may be under?

you can get USB video in options

Tho there are cheaper ones about. You might be able to pick up an add in card cheaper tho such as [www.ebuyer.com]

Jus another thing? im guessin that is a cheap end card is the quality of the video guna b crap or wud it b the same as it is on the video tape..or u not have a clue?

erm it prob could be the same as the original quality, depends on the compression/encoding used when capturing the card.. but if its video (as in vhs tape) it'll prob be near enough the same. Not done that much digital video editing via vid in tbh.. only done some old camcorder stuff, otehr then that its been digital video so no need for vid in cards
